Here we go again!

We're off to Europe! The plans include 12 days in Scandinavia, 12 days in Italy and 4 days in London, England. Yipee!

The ride from our home in Middletown, Connecicut to Newark Airport was uneventful, unless you count the lightning storm, flash flood, and miles of solid gridlock. Fortunately, Mark noticed that there was an empty lane on the side of the road, so instead of waiting in traffic with all the other cars, we just drove in that one and we got to the airport on time.

Our friend Matt was brave enough to ride with us and then take our car back home. Here's a photo of our last few minutes together on American soil.

Thanks for riding with us Matt! See you next month!

Here are a few photos as our trip began:

Continental Air has made wonderful strides in cutting costs this year. Here are Mark and Kobi traveling on the "U Save when U Fly It" faresaver program.

Talk about good attitude! After 12 hours on the plane -- five sitting on the runway while waiting for take-off and seven in the air -- the kids are still in a good mood as they take their first steps in Norway.

Then we waited in line to get our passports stamped. When our turn came, Kobi stepped up and announced to the clerk: "We're world travellers!"

The Oslo airport had a number of nice touches that made being there fun:

A Floor Poem at the Oslo Airport.

How thoughtful! Interesting dioramas sunk into the floor around the baggage claim. A nice way to pass the time.

This helpful aiport sign gives visitors a place to meet their hosts. And yes, I confess that I asked Kobi to pose for this. I promise not to do it again.
