Going to a school show

Our hosts at Le Royale have triplet 9-year olds! We went to their annual show for Chinmya Vidyalaya, a Hindu missionary school, for their 2000 student school, grades preschool through age 18. We were treated like VIP's and ushered to the front row.

Grades 3, 4 and 5 (including Jenny and Jose's kids, Natasha, Neil and Nathan) put on a pantomime about the 12 months and the battle between good and evil. Here, the 12 months meet in the forest to dance.

The older kids did both traditional and modern performances.

The older girls told stories with classical dance, with the flute-playing Krishna as a key figure.

Here's the cobra dance.

A rock band played a fusion of classical indian music and pop.

Classical instruments on the left, electric on the right.

Then the singers joined in. We don't have a shot of the boy who is headed for Bollywood, who sang lead on an Indian pop song with a half-dozen backup singers -- hopefully we'll post the video soon. He also lead the classical music singing and drumming after the modern segment ended.

This girl was a knock-out with her covers of Sting and U2.

The last dance was a bollywood style tribute to India in the 1960's.

Here's a video of a snip of their dance! Kids in Kochi do a 1960's style dance!
